Course Overview
International trade is a crucial element of t he UK economy, with over 95% of imported and exported goods transported by sea. This half day professional development course allows those employed in the business of international trade to participate in and gain a greater understanding of the various roles, challenges and legislative processes required to ensure the successful importing and exporting of goods from point of origin to delivery.
The course is delivered using cutting edge simulator technology incorporating industry standard documentation and support materials that reflect current working practices.
Aims and Structure
The goal of the simulators is to allow safe and effective exposure to the roles undertaken by the key players in the imports/export process. These are:
• Banks
• Importers
• Exporters
• Carriers (ships)
• Hauliers
• Forwarding Agents
• Customs and excise
• Port Operators
Half Day Package
Consisting of:
• An introduction to personal skills and goal setting
• A two hour session in the International Trade Simulation Suite
• A post-event review of personal development
Course Objectives
On completion of the half day session delegates will have:
• Gained an understanding of the various roles and responsibilities of the key organisations engaged in maritime trade (banks, hauliers, ports etc).
• An appreciation of the skills and tasks needed to trade on a global scale.
• Participated in problem solving of common issues involved in successful trade.
• Practised their negotiating and communications skills.

Prior Knowledge
